I’ve had the pleasure and honor of helping organizations throughout my career, especially recently, with my skills in marketing, writing and communications.
Museum & History Committee and Marketing Committee Member, Newsletter Contributor, Cincinnati Observatory Center
July 2018 – present
The history committee focuses on developing the historical aspects of the Observatory and bringing them to the public. The focus of 2018 is the 175th anniversary event and President Adams at the groundbreaking. After extensive partnerships with the Observatory over women’s history, they kindly asked me to be on the committee. My involvement with the Observatory has since grown, and I’ve taken on writing for the member newsletter and joined the marketing committee.
Transcriptionist, Smithsonian Transcription Center
September 2017 – present
The Smithsonian Transcription Center seeks to engage the public in making our collections more accessible, working hand-in-hand with digital volunteers to transcribe historic documents and collection records to facilitate research and excite the learning in everyone. I transcribe historical documents, specifically for the Freedmen’s Bureau.
Researcher and Consultant, Piatt Castles
August 2017 – present
As a consultant and researcher to Piatt Castles, I sort through unsorted materials to archive, transcribe and workshop exhibits. I also contribute research on the Piatt family for museum exhibits.
Volunteer, Super Heroines, Etc. – Cincinnati Chapter
June 2017 – present
I immediately began helping the local SHE chapter by helping to organize annual fundraising event, designing promotional material and writing press releases.
Marketing Specialist, FridgeForThought Etsy Store
December 2016 – June 2018
FridgeForThought is an Etsy store started by a friend. Soon after its launch, the owner wanted to shift the company goals to be more charitable. The store had since donated 100% of profits to charities, with a new charity every two months.
I applied a multitude of skills for FFT. I used Adobe Illustrator to design logos for the store header, choosing colors and fonts to match brand personality. I wrote the tagline for the logo and store description to infuse positioning statement. I also designed business cards and flyers. I also operated most of the Facebook page updates.
Marketing Specialist, Hillforest Victorian House Museum
November 2016 – present
Hillforest is the home of industrialist and financier Thomas Gaff and his family between 1855 and 1891, designed by architect Isaiah Rogers, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1992.
I design and copyedit annual event calendar, designing with retention and repeat visits in mind. I also developed marketing strategies, including expanding events to more partnerships within Aurora and channels of communication into the Greater Cincinnati Area.
Customer Relations Specialist, Cincy ComiCon
September 2016
Cincy ComiCon was a Cincinnati comic convention that focused “foremost on celebrating the medium and those who dedicate their lived to crafting the stories and art we all love.” (Unfortunately they took me on too late for marketing and chose not to operate past 2016.)
I resolved any issues that arose at the show; assisted in executing events; and ensured customer, creator and vendor satisfaction for retention.
